The fluttering shearwater (Puffinus gavia) is endemic to New Zealand. It is infrequently reported as bycatch in New Zealand fisheries.

In the 2020–21 fishing year, there was no swordfish longline fishing in the Kermadec Islands area. No estimates of total captures were made.
