Grey-headed albatross (Thalassarche chrysostoma) have a circumpolar distribution. In New Zealand they breed on Campbell Island. Grey-headed albatross are infrequently reported caught in New Zealand fisheries.

In the 2006–07 fishing year, there was no observed fishing in hapuka longline fisheries in the East Coast North Island area. No estimates of total captures were made.
