White-chinned petrel (Procellaria aequinoctialis) breed on islands throughout the Southern Ocean. The largest breeding site for white-chinned petrel in New Zealand is on the Antipodes Islands.

In the 2002–03 fishing year, there was no observed fishing in bigeye longline fisheries in the Bay of Plenty area. No estimates of total captures were made.
