White-chinned petrel (Procellaria aequinoctialis) breed on islands throughout the Southern Ocean. The largest breeding site for white-chinned petrel in New Zealand is on the Antipodes Islands.

In the 2002–03 fishing year, there was no swordfish longline fishing in the West Coast South Island area. No estimates of total captures were made.
